At the working session with the Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard Command, the deputy defense minister asked the unit to speed up administrative reform towards modernization of border gates, facilitating import-export, entry and exit activities and circulation of goods.
The provincial border guard force was urged to continue promoting border external affairs and people-to-people exchange in border areas.

What the unit should focus on in the coming time, as Gen. Chien requested, are giving recommendations to the provincial Party committee and people’s committee to improve the efficiency of the border external work, well managing and protecting the border and enhancing border gate cooperation activities, working with other forces to monitor all activities at border gates, increasing patrols along trails and open paths, and creating favorable conditions for people and businesses in entry and exit and circulating goods through border gates.
The same day, Gen. Chien and a mission from the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense handed over VND 110 million to the local gratitude fund and 92 gifts, worth VND 2.5 million each, to policy beneficiary families and national contributors in Cong Hoa ward, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province and Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province. The delegation also offered incense at the temple dedicated to Uncle Ho and fallen troops in Thanh Mien district.
* Also on July 25, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau attended a conference held by the Vietnam Border Guard’s Party Committee to review the 15-year implementation of the Central Military Commission’s Directive No.154 issued on April 9, 2008 on continuing to renovate and enhance special dissemination work in the new period (2008 - 2023).
A report delivered at the event confirmed that the Party Committee of the Vietnam Border Guard Command has over the past 15 years directed the serious actualization of the directive according to the functions, missions of each of its affiliated agencies and units and the real situations along the borderline and the areas where border units are stationed. Notably, many policies, breakthrough solutions, good and creative deeds have been developed and realized, bringing about substantive outcomes.
In his speech, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Gau asked Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels of the Vietnam Border Guard to keep embracing and realizing the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws on defense, security and diplomacy work in line with the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution. He underlined such strategies as the Fatherland protection strategy, the national defense strategy, the military strategy, the national security protection strategy, the national border defense strategy, the strategy on defending the Fatherland in cyber space, and the National Border and Border Guard Laws.
Gen. Gau also requested them to continue making suggestions, team with all level departments and forces to bring into play the synergy in conducting the special dissemination work, thus firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over its sea, islands and border, fighting all plots and acts of sabotage of hostile forces. They should also build a great national unity bloc, uphold political stability, an environment of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, Gen. Gau urged.
* Chairing a meeting on July 25 in Hanoi to work out plans on organizing activities marking the 80th founding anniversary of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, and 35th anniversary of the All People’s Defense Festive Day next year, Lt. Gen. Minh emphasized the significance of these celebrations in promoting tradition and pride among troops in the whole military in general and in the organs of the GDP in particular, thus confirming the position and role of the Party and political work of political agencies and contingent of all-level political cadres.
He asked for solemn, effective, economical, safe organization of celebration activities, enhancement of information dissemination on mass media and social networks, increase in quality of cultural and art activities, and good plans and compositions of plays, literary, art and cinematographic works on the armed forces, revolutionary war, and Uncle Ho’s soldiers with close attachment to the glorious tradition of the military and the GDP.
