Coast guard troops kick off program to support fishermen
PANO – The Coast Guard Region 2 Command, in collaboration with the Mass Mobilization Commission of the Da Nang municipal Party Committee, held the “Coast guard stands by fishermen” program in Thanh Khe district, Da Nang city on August 19.

At the event, representatives of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command disseminated sea-and-islands-related law and Law on Vietnam Coast Guard to fishermen and mobilized them to fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command presented 230 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to policy beneficiaries, fishermen’s families, and needy students in Thanh Khe district and handed over 20 environmentally-friendly rubbish bins to the Youth Union chapter of the locality.
At the event, the organizing panel also launched the “Joining hands to clean up sea environment” program. After the launch ceremony, troops of the coast guard region and local youths collected garbage on Xuan Ha beach.

Through the program, the organizers hoped to raise local people’s awareness of and responsibility for protecting sea environment and building green, clean, and beautiful scenery.
