Ga Ry Border Post helps evacuate over 40 households from high-risk landslide area

At 2:30 p.m. on September 21, after receiving reports from local residents about multiple long and deep cracks appearing on the top of Porlai mountain in Gari village, Hung Son commune, Da Nang city, Ga Ry Border Post reported the situation to the Da Nang City Border Guard Command and deployed a mobile team to inspect the site.

Recognizing the complex situation and high risk of landslides directly threatening the lives and property of residents living at the foot of the mountain, the unit dispatched 25 personnel to the scene. They collaborated with local authorities and on-site forces to mobilize residents and assist them in an emergency evacuation. Through pro-active and decisive efforts, the forces successfully relocated 40 households comprising 133 residents from the dangerous area to safe shelters.

To help local residents stabilize their lives, the unit provided 200 kilograms of rice from its reserve storage to families at the evacuation site. Simultaneously, the unit assigned a medical team to conduct health checkups, distribute free medicine, and instruct residents on maintaining environmental hygiene and safe dining practices to ensure health and prevent disease outbreaks in temporary housing areas.

Currently, approximately 17 areas are at risk of landslides within the area managed by the border post. Officers and soldiers of the unit maintain round-the-clock duty to closely monitor weather developments and ground subsidence at Porlai mountain and other landslide-prone areas, remaining ready to implement relief and rescue measures to protect the lives and property of local people.
