Vietnam’s military medicine service gains breakthrough achievements
PANO – Over the past 70 years, under the leadership of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, the military medicine service has successfully fulfilled assigned missions. Some military hospitals made breakthrough achievements in conducting organ transplant, orthopedics, and traumatology operation, etc.
This was affirmed by Major General Vu Quoc Binh, Director of the Department of Military Medicine under the Ministry of National Defense during a seminar chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Military Central Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

General Binh added that to meet the demand for better healthcare in the new context, military medical stations have focused on building a contingent of professional medical workers, modernizing medical equipment, and applying new technologies to improving health care quality for both military and civilian patents. In addition, together with regular tasks, military hospitals have conducted extra tasks, such as training forces for UN peacekeeping operations and disaster relief activities.
During the event, the participants exchanged experiences and measures to develop Vietnam’s military medicine service to catch up with other countries’.
Concluding the seminar, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don acknowledged the professors’ and doctors’ constructive ideas and affirmed that they would help the department build a strong contingent of medical workers to meet both short-term and long-term missions of the army.
