PANO – The Navy’s Staff on September 5th announced a decision establishing the DHC-6 Twin Otter squadron, in the presence of Rear Admirals Pham Ngoc Minh and Le Minh Thanh, Deputy Commanders of the Navy.

Earlier, the Naval Commander signed Decision 7934/QD-BTL to set up a squadron for DHC-6 Twin Otters under the unit’s Staff.

Accordingly, the squadron will be responsible for operating DHC-6 Twin Otters for training courses and combat readiness. Besides, the Navy’s Staff will select good officers and pilots, and promote their professionalism to master the aircraft.

Addressing the ceremony, Rear Admiral Pham Ngoc Minh, also Chief of the Naval Staff, said that along with the recent establishment of the EC-225 helicopter squadron, the newly-established DHC-6 unit will contribute to developing the Navy to meet the demands of its tasks in the new context.

He also asked the squadron’s troops to overcome difficulties to be ready to receive and fulfill all assigned missions.
