The patrol training session in the Can Gio sea area by Naval Squadron 2 was conducted strictly and thoroughly. Ship commanding officers briefed on the mission, the patrol plan, methods for handling expected scenarios, coordination among units, and a specific timeline. The unit then conducted the training session, closely reflecting the particular security situation in Can Gio sea area.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Anh Tuan, Deputy Head of Naval Squadron 2, the unit is responsible for managing a large sea area. As many international maritime routes pass through, it has focused on enhance troops’ bravery and determination during patrols and inspections to protect the sovereignty and security of Ho Chi Minh City's maritime border areas. In addition, the unit has strengthened training, joint patrol coordination, crime prevention efforts, and been always ready for search and rescue operations on rivers and at sea when needed.

Over the past time, the city’s border troops have overcome difficulties, stayed united and heightened their determination to fight against hostile forces and all types of crime, firmly protecting the city’s sovereignty and security in maritime border areas and port border gates.

Meanwhile, border troops have regularly coordinated with police and military forces to strictly manage individuals of concern, promptly detect, combat, and effectively handle incidents. Senior Colonel Truong Minh Tuan, Second-in-Command for Operations of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command, stated that the city occupies a strategically important position in terms of politics, economy, national defense, and security. As a gateway for international exchange, activities related to immigration and import-export trade are growing increasingly frequent and diverse. As a result, criminal activities may emerge, especially drug trafficking, smuggling, illegal trading, possession, and transportation of weapons and explosives, among others.

To enhance the efficiency of protecting and maintaining maritime border security and combating crime, the city’s border guard force has identified each people in border areas as a living milestone, and building a firm people’s heart posture as the decisive factor in the success of national border protection. Therefore, the force has introduced many policies and leadership measures, and mobilized people to join hands to protect national border.

According to Senior Colonel Do Vinh Thang, Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command, the synchronous implementation of crime prevention and control measures to protect the maritime border, along with efforts to mobilize local people, has significantly contributed to maintaining sovereignty and security in maritime border areas and port border gates; promoting activities focused on the border, sea, and islands, forming a "steel rampart" and a firm people’s heart posture in Ho Chi Minh City’s maritime border areas over the past years.
