Meaningful gratitude activities

In order to support impoverished children, units under the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command have implemented the “Paving the way to school for children - Adopted children of border posts” program. According to Senior Colonel Do Van Dong, the command’s Political Commissar, the force has implemented the program since 2014. Each unit assists two children, giving them VND 500,000 per month per student. They have also closely worked with children’s families and local authorities to help them continue their study.

The good deeds of the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command have been highly appreciated by local leaders. Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh underlined that border guards have effectively proposed to local authorities to well combine economic development with defense - security consolidation, launch many meaningful activities towards the national maritime border area, and help residents living in national maritime border areas reduce poverty, develop the economy, and ensure social security.

Since 2019, the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command has mobilized over VND 1.5 billion in cash and over 1,200 working days to repair 35 gratitude houses, provide free health check-ups and medicines, and present scholarships, bicycles, school things, and foods to needy children.

Models showing efficiency

At the same time, the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command has actively rolled out the “All people join hands in protecting the national sovereignty and border security in the current context” movement, accelerated law dissemination and education, and combated illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing via direct meetings, panels, and bookshelves of law-related books.

Senior Colonel Tran Cong Thanh, Commander of the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command, affirmed that since 2019, border guards have held nearly 790 dissemination seminars for around 93,000 people, granted more than 13,000 leaflets, and disseminated laws to almost 20,000 fishing ship owners, captains, and fishermen.

Thanks to their efforts, units of the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command have carried out and multiplied various models in protecting the national sovereignty and border security, countering crimes, and calling local residents to follow a civilized lifestyle, making contribution to maintaining social order and security and creating favorable conditions for the city to develop local socio-economy.
