In the remaining time before the departure for international duties, the VNDPKO will provide additional training on operating power generators and repairing equipment to enhance the capabilities of the staff of Engineering Company Rotation 3, tailored to the mission requirements in Abyei.

Preparations for the see-off ceremony, scheduled for September 24, are nearly completed. Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan directed the VNDPKO and relevant agencies to continue closely coordinating to overcome difficulties, ensuring optimal preparation of personnel, vehicles, and equipment in line with U.N. standards. He also emphasized that personnel and goods must be transported according to schedule, with careful packing and preservation of equipment to guarantee safety.

Gen. Tan, who is also Deputy Head of the Intersectoral Working Group, and Deputy Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee for Vietnam's participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations, stressed that all agencies and units should thoroughly review the planned tasks to ensure completion, and coordinate with the Australian Embassy and Defense Attaché Office in Hanoi to facilitate the transport of L2FH Rotation 6 to South Sudan and the return of L2FH Rotation 5 to Vietnam.

According to the plan, a Royal Australian Air Force C-17 military transport aircraft will carry 63 members of L2FH Rotation 6 to South Sudan and return with 51 members of L2FH Rotation 5 to Vietnam. The remaining 12 members of L2FH Rotation 5 will stay behind to complete the handover procedures, and return on a commercial flight, with costs supported by Australia.
