According to Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor Nguyen Huy Viet, Head of L2FH Rotation 4’s Outpatient Department, the hospital was in charge of providing healthcare for around 3,000 U.N. staff and local people and conducting other humanitarian missions as requested by the U.N. In addition, the unit effectively carried out defense external affairs, contributing to popularizing the image of Vietnam, its people, and People’s Army to international friends.
In spite of conducting missions in the condition of harsh weather, political instability, conflicts, and shortage of facilities, the personnel of the L2FH Rotation 4 pro-actively overcame difficulties, showed their responsibility, and promoted their professional competence to both successfully complete missions assigned by the U.N. and receive and provide treatment for locals.
During their 16-month stay in South Sudan, the hospital provided health examination for 1,468 patients, exceeding the U.N.’s requirement. The hospital’s personnel also helped the host in pandemic prevention and control and environmental improvement, gave medical assistance to local health sector, presented school supplies to local students, and had exchange with other units at the U.N. Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). All personnel of the hospital were honored with the Medal for U.N. Peacekeeping Cause, while many individuals were presented with certificates of merit by the Defense Minister and the Chief of the General Staff.
Speaking at the meeting, GDL Political Commissar Lieutenant General Do Van Thien acknowledged and praised the hospital’s personnel for their excellent achievements. Sharing their difficulties and hardships, the general department’s leader credited members of L2FH Rotation 4 as outstanding peace ambassadors who introduced and popularized the image of Vietnam, its people, and history and tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army and virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to international friends and greatly contributed to the development of the military medical sector in general and the GDL in particular.

General Thien asked the officers and staff to apply their competence and experience and foreign language skills to their future task performance. He also requested functional agencies to collect aspiration of the L2FH Rotation 4’s personnel and develop policies for them in accordance with current regulations and actual situation of their agencies and units.
