In the 2015-2025 period, MR9 excellently completed training and combat readiness tasks, firmly protecting the strategic Southwestern region of the Fatherland; improving comprehensive combat strength; and building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern unit. Local troops performed especially excellently in tasks regarding natural disaster prevention and control, and search and rescue; handling bomb and mine contamination; COVID-19 prevention and control; mass mobilization work, policy work, and policies for the military and its rear.

On behalf of Party and State leaders, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presents the First-class Fatherland Protection Order to the Military Region 9 armed forces.

On behalf of the Party and State’s leaders, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the First-class Fatherland Protection Order to MR9 for their outstanding achievements in training, combat readiness, building the organization, and consolidating national defense, contributing to the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland. On this occasion, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the Third-class Fatherland Protection Order and certificates of merit from the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defense to leaders of the MR9 Command; and attended the inauguration of the Intensive Care Center and the phase 2 upgrade of the Dialysis Center at Military Hospital 121 under MR9’s Department of Logistics and Technical Services.

Speaking at the conference reviewing military and defense work in 2025 of MR9, General Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that although there are still many difficulties, they have grasped and implemented resolutions, directives, and conclusions of all levels drastically and effectively; completed key political tasks well. Emphasizing that 2026 is of special importance, being the first year to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 12th Military Party Congress, General Nguyen Trong Nghia requested the MR9 armed forces to focus on grasping, studying, and implementing resolutions, directives, and conclusions of the Central Party Committee, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense; pay due attention to building a healthy, strong, and exemplary Military Region Party Organization in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization, and personnel; thoroughly grasping, concretizing, and seriously and effectively implementing the goals of building the Military Party Committee and three breakthroughs identified by the Resolution of the 12th Military Party Congress; in which the breakthrough in promoting the cultural values of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in the new era associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style to suite for each unit and each individual of MR9.

At the same time, MR9 should pro-actively research, grasp, evaluate, and forecast the situation, improve the quality of advisory work to effectively handle situations; better promote the role in building the all-people national defense posture in line with the people’s security posture, especially on shared borderline; pro-actively coordinate with forces to strictly manage airspace, sea areas, borders, inland, outer borders, and cyberspace.

They need to renovate and improve the quality of combat readiness, training, mastery of weapons and equipment, especially new and modern ones, and perform well in defense diplomacy; build MR9 politically strong; promote the implementation of the “Good mass mobilization” movement, building “Good mass mobilization units.” They also need to focus on well implementing the construction and deployment of tasks for 2026; immediately concentrate on well performing combat readiness duties to protect the 14th National Party Congress and the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
