Contestants at the event

This round brought together 100 students who achieved outstanding results in the first online round, representing more than 9,300 students from 17 junior secondary schools in six coastal communes and wards of Dak Lak province. 

The contestants competed in four sections: “Setting Sail,” “Riding the Waves,” “Making Landfall,” and “Placing Sovereignty Markers,” by answering a set of multiple-choice questions consisting of 20 main questions, 15 supplementary questions, and 15 questions posed by the contest advisory board.

The questions focused on knowledge of Vietnam’s sea and islands; the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982; the Law of the Sea of Vietnam and the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard; regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; the functions and tasks of the Vietnam Coast Guard; as well as the nation’s history, geography, culture, and tradition of resistance against foreign invaders.

Individuals with outstanding achievements in the contest honored

Based on the results, the organizing panel selected 50 contestants to advance to Round 2 (the provincial-level competition), which is scheduled to be held in January 2026.

Speaking at the contest, Colonel Duong Minh Chau, Deputy Political Commissar of Flotilla 32, emphasized the significance of the contest in inspiring patriotism, national pride, and self-respect. He added that the contest also help raise students’ awareness of the position and strategic role of Vietnam’s sea and islands in the cause of national construction and defense.

At the same time, it helps students gain a solid understanding of the historical traditions of their Fatherland and country, as well as the Party’s viewpoints, guidelines, and the State’s policies and laws on addressing issues related to sea and islands in accordance with international law.

On this occasion, Flotilla 32 presented 10 bicycles to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have shown determination and progress in their studies.
