In Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal authorities held a gathering for 500 local former senior officers in the presence of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, and leaders of Military Region 7.
Speaking at the event, Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan recalled the glorious history of the VPA. He affirmed that thanks to the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the wholehearted support of the Vietnamese people, the VPA won great victories in the past national liberation wars, successfully completed international service in the past and is firmly safeguarding the country in peacetime. The city leader said that the city’s Party organization, authorities and people always acknowledge the contributions of retired officers to the national construction and defense cause. He hoped that they, with their good virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and valuable experience, will continue devoting to building the city’s Party Committee and the city in general.

At the closing ceremony of the volleyball tournament of Division 324 of Military Region 4 |
* On December 21 and 22, the MB Securities Joint Stock Company (MBS), member of the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), in association with the Hospital of Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy and other units, launched numerous meaningful activities in Con Dao island district of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. During the program, the organizers presented 70 scholarships to needy students, 20 gifts to border troops, 200 gifts and 200 life jackets to fishermen on the island. In addition, they provided free health check-ups and medicine to local national contributors.
* One-Member Limited Liability Coffee Company 15 under the Military Region 5 Command has collaborated with the Dac G’long district Military Command and Regiment 994 of the Dac Nong Provincial Military Command to raise fund to repair four houses, present four breeding cattle, and give 200 gifts to needy families in the communes of Dac R’mang, Dac P’lao, Quang Hoa and Quang Son. On this occasion, the district military command also presented an electric generator, worth VND 20 million, to locals at Hamlet 12 of Quang Hoa commune. The total program costs about VND 320 million, of which VND 150 million was from the Military Region 5 Command, VND 150 million donated by the company’s employees and troops, and the remainder from the Dac G’long district Military Command.
* The Military Region 1 (MR1) Command has just held a get-together for its retired senior officers. At the event, MR1 leaders extended best wishes to former senior officers and their families on the occasion. They also expressed hope that the retired officers will make more contribution to building the local armed forces.
* The authorities of Thua Thien - Hue and Ninh Binh provinces have launched various activities recently to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the VPA and the 30th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day. During the events, delegates recalled the heroic traditions of the VPA in general and the local armed forces in particular.
* A volleyball tournament launched by Division 324 of Military Region 4 was successfully concluded on December 22. The first prizes were presented to winners of different categories.
* The authorities of Hoan Kiem and Long Bien districts held ceremonies to commemorate the 75th founding anniversary of the VPA and the 30th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day. Reportedly, the district Party committees and people have successfully achieved their socio-economic targets while maintaining political stability and social safety over the past years.
* A mission of the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command offered incense and laid wreaths at the Monument for Heroic Martyrs, Statue of Vu Van Hieu and the Ha Tu War Cemetery in Ha Long city recently. During the event, delegates paid tribute to fallen soldiers and promised to try their best to fulfill all assigned missions.
* The Hai Duong Provincial Military Command and Health Department have just co-organized a program to provide free health checkups and medicines to national contributors, Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims, the elderly and the needy in Cong Hoa ward, Chi Linh city.
