Briefing delegates on the unit’s task performance over the past time, Commander of the Chemical Corps Major General Ha Van Cu said that since the beginning of this year, together with recommending measures to the Ministry of National Defense to strengthen the unit ’s capabilities to deal with chemical-related incidents, the corps has effectively prevented the COVID-19 pandemic.
Notably, the Chemical Corps advised the Ministry of National Defense to issue an action plan on preventing, detecting, and responding to chemical-, biological-, and nuclear incidents in the 2019-2025 period. The chemical units have paid attention to upgrading chemical equipment while actively dealing with chemical incidents and sterilizing COVID-19-affected areas. Their efforts have been praised and highly appreciated by the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and people.

The report also said that the corps has thoroughly prepared for the inter-provincial civilian defensive area drill to cope with environmental incidents in 2020, completed the testing of a new technology to detoxify dioxin-contaminated soil, and started a project on dioxin contamination remediation at A So Airport in A Luoi district, Thua Thien-Hue province.
Speaking at the meeting with the Chemical Corps, General Giang acknowledged and highly appreciated the chemical troops’ achievements since the beginning of this year, especially their efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. He asked the corps to continue embracing directives on defense and military missions and strictly maintain combat readiness to ensure security at important national events.
The force was urged to anticipate chemical-related scenarios, pay attention to training to raise its personnel’s competence, ensure chemical equipment for units in the whole military, and complete preparations for the inter-provincial civilian defensive area drill to cope with environmental incidents in 2020.
* Another mission of the General Staff, led by its Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, inspected Regiment 284’s combat readiness and its plan to protect the Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant.
Over the past time, Regiment 284 under Air-defense Division 365 of the Air Defense-Air Force Service has successfully fulfilled its combat readiness mission and effectively managed airspace and aviation activities while practicing different exercises that protect the Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant. The unit also ensured adequate weapons and equipment for combat readiness missions and held training to raise its personnel’s competence to effectively meet the requirements of missions.
Having checked the plan on protecting the Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant, General Vinh asked the plant to ensure electricity and supplies to people, foster coordination in implementing local military and defense missions, and promote combat readiness training to ensure security at the 13th National Party Congress.
