According to Second-in-Command Officer and Chief of Staff of the municipal Border Guard Command Senior Colonel Tran Cong Thanh, under the instruction of the unit, Hai Van and Son Tra border posts have dispatched their troops to Tho Quang fishing port and other coastal area in the city for the storm response mission.

Regardless of torrential rain and strong winds, 300 troops have cooperated with other local forces to reinforce 150 houses, tow 30 fishing ships ashore and call upon other waterway vehicles to take shelters. They have also transported relief goods to support affected localities and helped locals overcome the consequences of the storm. In addition, 150 military servicemen of the unit have helped 20 households in localities facing high risk of landslides move to safer places.

As the water level on the Han River is rising, Da Nang city’s Border Guard Command advised people to anchor their waterway vehicles in locks, fishing ports and other safe places and not to travel by waterway to avoid incidences.

* According to the Standing Office of the Quang Ngai provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, the fifth storm has made a landfall in the central province and caused damages to houses and crops of the local people.

Particularly, the storm unroofed 25 houses and submerged 73 others. Eight hundred and seventy nine hectares of rice, 435 hectares of corn and 250 hectares of vegetables were damaged by flood water. Torrential rains also caused landslides along roads in Ba To, Binh Son, Ly Son, and Tra Bong districts.

To ensure safety for the local people, on September 12, the Quang Ngai provincial Military Command instructed its subordinate units and militiamen to move 200 people in Dong Lo hamlet to safer places.
