Hall of fame of Department of Politics of MR 8 inaugurated
PANO - The Department of Politics of Military Region 9 (MR 9), in association with the Liaison Board of the Department of Politics of Military Region 8 (MR 8), on November 30 held a ceremony to unveil a hall of fame of the MR8's Department of Politics in Tan Thanh district, Long An province.
Present at the event were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), and Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Huan, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Director of the GDP.
The 140 sq.m hall, built at a total cost of over VND 1.7 billion, will showcase 300 images, documents, artifacts of the history of the Department of Politics of MR 8 during the 1946-1976 period.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gen. Nghia asked the military and civilian agencies and units to continue enhancing the Vietnamese beautiful tradition “When drinking water, remember its source”; preserving and promoting historical values for troops and local people.
He also suggested the unit should effectively implement the information dissemination to highlight humane values and cultural identity of the locality, as well as the fight of our troops during the resistance war.
On the occasion, the Liaison Board of the Department of Politics of MR 8 presented gifts to 60 national contributors’ families and needy students in the locality.
