The Military Medical School of Military Region 2 was established in July 1979. It was tasked with training nurses, pharmacy assistants, military medical assistants and advanced training military medical assistants, in order to promptly provide medical personnel for units directly engaged in combat and combat support, as well as surgical teams, treatment teams and rear hospitals.
During its early days, the school faced numerous difficulties, particularly in accommodation, lecture halls, training curricula, teaching materials and equipment.

In December 1989, in response to new mission requirements, the school was disbanded. After returning to agencies, military units and localities, many of its officers, instructors and trainees continued their education and training, developing their careers and assuming important positions both inside and outside the military.
Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Mai Van Toc, Deputy Chief of Logistics and Technical Affairs of Military Region 2, affirmed that the achievements made by MR2’s military medical sector today have been built upon the persistent contribution of previous generations.

The colonel also called on the veterans to continue sharing information related to the graves and burial sites of fallen soldiers, thereby contributing to the joint efforts of the military region’s armed forces and local authorities in effectively implementing the “500-day campaign to accelerate the search, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains.”
