Around five people were inside the house at the time, while neighboring households, with three people each, and a nearby garment factory were operating as usual. About five minutes later, because the fire was not detected promptly, it spread rapidly beyond the control of the homeowner and local residents. Intense heat and toxic smoke quickly filled the kitchen and living areas.

Due to the prolonged fire, the blaze spread quickly, while dense toxic smoke filled the house and drifted into neighboring properties, posing a serious threat to many lives and complicating firefighting and rescue operations.
As the fire spread through the An Long market residential area, prolonged exposure to high temperatures, together with residents rushing to move their belongings, severely affected a two-story house under repair immediately to the left of the scene. Its corrugated metal roof and scaffolding became deformed, large cracks developed in the upper-floor walls, and part of the front balcony and wall collapsed.

Under the direction of the Long Kien commune Steering Board for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense, firefighting and rescue forces completed the mission within 20 minutes. The fire was fully extinguished, 30 people were evacuated from the danger area, while five fire victims and two people trapped in the collapsed building were rescued and transferred to higher-level medical facilities for treatment.
The exercise was designed to strengthen the leadership and management capacity of local Party committees and authorities, as well as the advisory role of the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and specialized forces, with the military and public security serving as the core forces. It also aimed to improve coordination and civil defense capabilities among local armed forces, ensuring readiness to respond effectively to emergencies, ensure political security and social order, and support the locality’s socio-economic development.
