Over the past time, the Viet Nam Border Guard has deployed military data networks, military telephone systems, and shared software across most agencies, border posts, and checkpoints. It has also effectively used databases and software systems for border management, protection, and immigration control. The electronic border guard administrative procedures portal is connected to the Viet Nam National Single Window, covering 14 procedures at seaport and land border gates, with all applications submitted online. The force has also deployed 28 automated immigration control systems, piloted a smart border gate and “digital border gate” platform at Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son province, and operated fishing vessel control systems at 229 border checkpoints.

Concluding the conference, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Hien asked the Viet Nam Border Guard to upgrade its military computer network, digitize databases and border surveillance systems, and improve the use of operational command centers, fishing vessel control systems, and population data. He also called for stronger use of digital signatures, end-to-end processing, and digitization of administrative procedures and records, as well as development of the “digital border gate” platform. The Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s relevant agencies were asked to support the force in developing secure IT infrastructure, completing the legal framework for sharing population and biometric data, and connecting fishing vessel control systems with fisheries traceability and national fisheries databases.
Also on August 12, a MND delegation led by Deputy Minister of National Defense Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Quang Ngoc inspected and worked with Corps 19-Northeast Corporation on its production and business results in 2026, the Development Strategy for the 2026-2030 period, and enterprise restructuring.

The defense leader praised the corporation’s achievements and asked it to address shortcomings and effectively restructure state capital during 2026-2030. He emphasized the need to follow the Party’s guidelines and State laws, closely adhere to the direction of the Central Military Commission and MND, and implement comprehensive measures to improve competitiveness and achieve double-digit growth. The corporation was also urged to apply science and technology, accelerate digital transformation, reduce costs, use resources efficiently, and review its investment projects to prioritize those necessary for military and defense missions and production and business activities.

Earlier that morning, General Ngoc and the delegation inspected and worked with Brigade 169 under Naval Region 1 on military and defense affairs. He asked the brigade’s Party Committee and Chain-of-command to improve training quality, use training results to assess leadership and command capacity and combat readiness, and continue adjusting operational documents to match its organization and missions. He also instructed the brigade to conduct combat training and live-fire exercises according to plan with absolute safety, maintain strict routines, ensure comprehensive logistics and technical support, and coordinate with relevant units to improve the professional skills of technical personnel and the quality of technical support.
