Visiting Senior Lieutenant General Sengnouane Xayalath, President of the Central Committee of the Lao Veterans’ Association, former Vice President of the National Assembly, former Minister of National Defense, and former Director of the LPA’s GDP, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his delight at the development of the Lao Veterans’ Association and its achievements in caring for the lives and protecting the fundamental rights of veterans.

Warmly welcoming General Nguyen Trong Nghia and the VPA’s high-ranking delegation, Senior Lieutenant General Sengnouane Xayalath briefed them on the formation, organizational structure, and activities of the Central Committee of the Lao Veterans’ Association. He thanked Viet Nam for its assistance to the association, expressing his hope to continue receiving coordination and experience sharing from the Viet Nam Veterans’ Association as well as agencies and units of the VPA.
General Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the Party, the State, and the VPA always treasure and appreciate the contribution and sacrifices of generations of officers, soldiers, and veterans of both countries in the struggle for national independence, defense, and construction. The Ministry of National Defense and the VPA’s GDP attach importance to and create favorable conditions for the Viet Nam Veterans' Association to fulfill its functions and tasks, and will continue to promote joint programs between the two veterans’ associations.
General Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that VPA agencies and units operating in Laos, especially those stationed in strategic areas, continue to care for Lao veterans, enhance gratitude activities, support livelihoods, and improve the living conditions of disadvantaged families.

Regarding the search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his hope that Senior Lieutenant General Sengnouane Xayalath and the Central Committee of the Lao Veterans’ Association would continue to raise awareness and encourage members and the public to provide information and coordinate with Vietnamese forces to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in Laos.
On the outcomes of the talks between the two GDPs, General Nguyen Trong Nghia noted that the two sides agreed to further promote education and dissemination of the history and special solidarity traditions between Viet Nam and Laos. They also agreed to promote delegation exchanges, cadre training, and young officer exchanges; build and consolidate local political bases; maintain a border of peace, friendship, stability, and development; and coordinate to implement historical significant projects.
On the same day, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and his entourage visited General Chansamone Chanyalath, former Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of National Defense, and former Director of the LPA’s GDP.
General Chansamone Chanyalath affirmed his affection for the country and people of Viet Nam. Highly appreciating General Chansamone Chanyalath’s contribution to the special solidarity between Viet Nam and Laos, and the cooperation between the two states, militaries, and GDPs, General Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that today’s generations of officers and soldiers always remember the merits of their predecessors. He added that they will continue to preserve and cultivate the Viet Nam-Laos relations making the relations increasingly profound, practical, and effective.
Visiting Senior Lieutenant General Thongloi Silivong, former Deputy Minister of National Defense and former Director of the LPA’s GDP, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his deep appreciation for the host’s contribution to building the LPA and promoting cooperation between the two militaries and GDPs.
Later that day, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and the high-ranking delegation of the VPA visited and worked with Star Telecom Company (Unitel) under the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel).

General Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the company’s leaders in general, and each Vietnamese staff member and employee in particular, must act as cultural ambassadors representing the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to preserve and develop the special solidarity between Viet Nam and Laos. He urged them to pioneer in the digital transformation in Laos, continue implementing social welfare programs, contribute to the community, and spread intrinsic cultural values to businesses in Laos, especially Vietnamese enterprises.
