The Defense Minister was accompanied by Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Deputy-Chief-of-the-General Staff; Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics; and Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Commander of Military Region 3.

The Provincial Military Command provided timely advice to the provincial authorities on local defense-military affairs, maintained combat readiness, and collaborated with relevant forces to ensure political security and social order in the area. In addition, they successfully held a local defensive area exercise with good commendations from the Military Region 3 Command as well as central and local ministries and sectors.

They also directed affiliated units to hold defensive area exercises at grassroots level, while advising the provincial authorities to issue a plan to build defensive facilities in the 2017-2020 period towards 2035 and beyond.

Addressing the event, General Lich praised the Command’s efforts and outcomes over the past time. He also asked the Command to continue maintaining a high state of combat readiness, providing defense-security training courses for locals, and implementing military recruitment well.

Later the same day, General Lich laid wreaths and planted trees inside the compound of Statue of late Party Secretary Nguyen Van Linh in Hung Yen city.
