According to reports of the provincial military and border guard commands, in 2017, the training of the province’s armed forces improved in depth with proactive innovation of political education and military training. Especially, last year the provincial armed forces mobilized 28,570 participating regular troops, militiamen and reserves to help locals in disaster mitigation and search and rescue. The provincial Military Command served as the patron for two communes in building new-style rural areas in 2017. The provincial Border Guard Command held an on-map training exercise with good results and busted various criminal cases, capturing 41 suspects, etc.

The Defense Minister hailed the Party Committee and authorities of Ha Tinh province for making efforts to overcome difficulties in gaining socio-economic achievements while maintaining firm defense-security posture. The armed forces of the province have worked well with other forces to keep the society safe and make timely proposals to the local authorities in proactively dealing with arising problems. The units have also improved the defense relations work, contributing to safeguarding the national territorial integrity and security in border areas, fostering friendship and solidarity with Laos.

The General required that the armed forces continue to promote the achieved results and overcome shortcomings, ever-ready for any emergency circumstances, firmly maintaining political security and social order in the locality. The armed forces should maintain close connection with local authorities while strengthening their combat capabilities, building a firm defensive area, improving training and Party and political work, meeting the requirements of Fatherland protection in the current period.
