Listening to reports delivered by the two departments’ leadership on their achievements, General Lich hailed their all-out efforts in carrying out Party, political and logistic work over the past year.

Regarding the implementation of key missions this year, General Lich tasked the General Department of Politics (GDP) to seriously embrace resolutions and directives of higher levels with a focus on the Central Military Commission’s resolution on leadership over military-defense missions and the building of military Party Committee in the year of the Dog.

The Defense Minister also asked the agency to boost its close coordination with related military and civilian agencies, further promote the quality of researching, making strategic suggestions in an active, clear-headed and forecasting manner.

The GDP was urged to make more practical recommendations to the Party, State and Central Military Commission on building a politically-strong military; direct the quality improvement of political and ideological education; raise awareness of troops of military-defense and national protection missions and orient troops’ and people’s thoughts on sensitive and complicated matters.

General Lich entrusted to the GDP other missions of vital importance to the building of a modern and politically strong military, including being active in the combat against “peaceful evolution” schemes, plots of depoliticizing the Vietnam People’s Army, “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” manifestations and being resolute to fight wrongful and inimical viewpoints while ensuring the ideological foundation of the Party in the military and contributing to protecting the Party’s guidelines and standpoints as well as the State’s policies and law.

General Lich also emphasized the need to direct the whole military to seriously implement the Resolution adopted at the fourth meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee on Party building and revamping coupled with the Politburo’s Directive No.05, the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission’s Directive No.87, the movement of “Promoting tradition, devoting talents, deserving to be Uncle Ho’s soldiers”, and to improve comprehensively leadership capabilities and combat strength of Party committees and cells and quality of Party members.

The GDP was requested to closely follow any developments in localities, renovate mass mobilization work, especially in strategic, remote and mountainous areas and to effectively implement Party and political work and defense external services.

Highlighting the military logistics sector for its assurance of logistics for combat readiness, routine and unscheduled missions, its direction to ensure a cozy, economical and safe Lunar New Year festival for troops, and renovation in task performance, General Lich asked the General Department of Logistics to pay attention to building strong Party committees and cells, comprehensively strong general department, consolidating internal solidarity, bringing into full play collective intellect, ensuring logistics in line with troops’ life and missions, contributing to building a regular, modern military with high combat ability and fulfillment of all assigned tasks in any circumstances.
