Paying a visit and offering Tet greetings to former Party General Secretary Do Muoi, General Ngo Xuan Lich briefed the former Party leader on the accomplishment of the military-defense work in 2016 as well as the results of the building of a revolutionary, elite, and gradually-modernized army over the past year. Delighted at the encouraging results, former General Secretary Do Muoi hoped that in the coming time, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense would strengthen leadership so as to build a comprehensively strong army with firm political stance and high combat capacity while heightening unity, successfully fulfilling all assigned missions.
Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich extends Tet greetings to troops of the Coast Guard Command.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich wished former General Secretary Do Muoi longevity and a cozy Tet holiday with family. He hoped that the former leader would always closely follow activities of the military and encourage troops in the whole army so that they have more motivation to complete all assigned missions.
In the afternoon the same day, General Ngo Xuan Lich offered incense to late leaders of the Ministry of National Defense: General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Van Tien Dung, General Nguyen Chi Thanh and General Doan Khue.
* Earlier, in the morning of January 21, General Ngo Xuan Lich inspected the combat readiness posture and extended Tet greetings to troops of the Coast Guard Command and Battalion 103 under the Hanoi Capital Command.
At the Coast Guard Command, General Ngo Xuan Lich was briefed upon the unit’s task performance in 2016 and major orientations for 2017 as well as the combat readiness and preparation for welcoming Tet holiday of the command. On behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich hailed the achievements of the command over the past time. The Defense Minister required that the Coast Guard Command promote solidarity to overcome any difficulties in building the force to be comprehensively strong with increasing combat power so as to fulfill any missions assigned by the Party and State.
During the Dinh Dau Lunar New Year (Year of the Rooster), the general asked the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels of the Coast Guard Command to take good care of troops’ material and spiritual life, welcome a happy, safe and economical Tet while maintaining high combat readiness posture, ready to deal with any arising situations. Over the teleconference system, the Defense Minister extended Tet greetings to troops on combat readiness duty in all the sea areas of Vietnam. All troops of the command promised to overcome any difficulties in carrying out assigned missions.
The same morning, General Ngo Xuan Lich visited and sent Tet greetings to troops of Battalion 103 under the Hanoi Capital Command. At the battalion, General Lich hailed the unit’s outstanding achievements and required the battalion to continue strictly maintaining its function as a military police force, stressing that the visit of the top leader of the army to a military police unit aims to encourage the whole army to strictly abide by State law, army discipline and units’ regulations.
