At the event, retiring Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong transferred the duty of chief of Military Region 2 Command to Major Tran Van Bac, Second-in-Command of MR2 Region.

In his speech, Gen. Giang congratulated Lt. Gen. Pham Hong Chuong on the completion of his duty and responsibility as the Commanding General of MR2 Command. He spoke highly of the general’s leadership over MR2’s armed forces’ implementation of assignments.

For Maj. Gen. Tran Van Bac, Gen. Giang emphasized his practical leadership experience and strategic thinking in armed force building. He stressed that the appointment of Gen. Bac to the new post demonstrated the trust of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense’s leaders in Gen. Bac himself and MR 2’s Standing Board of the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command.

The defense chief asked Gen. Bac to bring into play achievements gained by MR2’s armed forces over the past time and concentrate on directing the implementation of remaining tasks for 2024 and the 2020-2025 term, particularly key missions defined by the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.

He also requested Gen. Bac to lead the unit to coordinate with stationed locality to build a firm whole people’s defense disposition coupled with people’s security posture; adjust operational documents and combat readiness plans; and to direct local military agencies to promote their advisory work.

Moreover, together with MR2’s Party Committee and Chain-of-Command, Gen. Bac must direct affiliates to work closely with forces to manage and safeguard national sovereignty and border security; improve synergy, combat strength, combat readiness capability of local armed forces; and effectively and practically organize activities to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day.

Other tasks that should be focused on include strict observance of military discipline, maintenance of regularity, the building of comprehensively-strong, exemplary and typical agencies and units, a healthy and strong Party Organization, and early stabilization of organization, personnel, and troops’ thought.
