In 2024, the Party Committee, Steering Committee 515 of Kien Giang province, as well as local authorities and chains-of-commands of agencies and units have grasped the Party and State’s viewpoints, guidelines and policies on the search, collection and identification of unidentified martyrs’ remains; promoted the effectiveness of information dissemination and participation of the whole society in the work.

Up to now, units and localities across the province have completed the review and completion of the lists of fallen soldiers.

The survey, identification, search for, and collection of martyrs' remains have been carried out scientifically while the verification of unidentified remains has been implemented in a strict and effective manner by the relevant agencies and units and local authorities.

Since 2001, Team K92 under the Kien Giang provincial Military Command has found and gathered 2,123 sets of martyrs’ remains, identified 17 sets, and repatriated 11 sets to their hometowns.

Speaking at the event, Sr. Lt. Gen. Vo Minh Luong required the Steering Committee 515 of Kien Giang province to continue to strictly grasp the Politburo’s directive, the Prime Minister's decisions; and programs and guiding documents of the National Steering Committee 515 and relevant ministries and branches.

The committee should pro-actively build concrete plans for search, collection and identification of unidentified martyrs’ remains in 2025, which are closely related to the situation and tasks of localities; strengthen leadership and directions to raise the efficiency of State management in the work; and enhance the role and responsibility of local Party Committees and authorities in managing and directing the work.

The deputy defense minister required the committee to promote information dissemination and the synergy of the whole political system and the participation of organizations, and individuals, especially war veterans, in the work.

Additionally, the unit should effectively implement the verification of martyrs’ remains and coordinate with local authorities to organize memorial and burial services for fallen soldiers, to name but a few.
