PANO – An artistic exchange, “Forever singing about you”, will be broadcast live on the Vietnam Television Channel 9 and Vietnam Defence Channel at 8:30 pm on December 8th, announced organizers at a press conference on December 3rd in Ho Chi Minh City.

The exchange aims to honour the heroic traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army, Military Zone 7 and the heroic Commando Mission 10 in Sac Forest, which took part in 596 battles, killing 6,200 enemy troops and destroying hundreds of enemy ships. During the war, more than 800 troops of the mission sacrificed their lives.

To acknowledge their sacrifices and contributions, the Party and State conferred the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title to the Mission on September 23rd, 1973. Its subordinate unit, Squad 5, and 9 outstanding troops were also presented with the noble title.

During the exchange, two former cadres of the mission, including Major General Tran Thanh Lap and Colonel and the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Nguyen Hong The, will recall glorious feats of arms of the unit in sinking the enemy’s Victory Ship on August 23rd, 1966 and burning Nha Be gas storage depot on December 3rd, 1973.

Senior Colonel Tran Ngoc Soan, former cadre of the mission, and local people will also share with the audience the difficulties confronting the mission, as well as local people’s love and help for the unit’s troops.

Besides, the audiences will be entertained with revolutionary songs performed by singers Anh Tho, Ngo Cong Lam, Trong Khoa, Quoc Vinh, Cao Thuy Vy and artists from Military Zone 7’s arts troupe.

On the occasion, organizers will also present gifts to those who rendered good service to the nation in the locality.

The event, jointly organized by the People’s Army Newspaper, Military Zone 7’s Command, the Vietnam Television, the Army Radio-Television Centre, Saigon Newport Corporation and Bach An Media Joint Stock Company, is part of activities to mark the 69th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, 24th celebration of the whole people’s defence festive day and 68th founding anniversary of Military Zone 7.
