Chairing the politico-military conference of the General Staff (GS), Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, GS Chief and Deputy Defense Minister, highly praised the GS’s affiliates’ task fulfilment in the first six months, including comprehensive completion of military and defense tasks, close watch on situations, timely suggestions, promotion of IT application, higher awareness of troops of tasks, strict observance of State law and military discipline, and guarantee of logistics, technical, financial, economic work for missions.

Analyzing the impacts of world, regional, and domestic situational developments to task implementation in the second half of this year, Gen. Cuong asked units to strictly maintain combat readiness duties, ensure adequate weapons, equipment and logistics supplies for missions.

Units were also requested to actively practice shifting combat readiness status, guard targets, improve efficiency of political education and thought management, carry out Party and political work in missions, keep absolute safety and security at political events of the Party, State, and military, among others. 

* Speaking highly of the whole military’s scientific and technological work implementation in the first six months, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Huy Vinh urged units to speed up national and Ministry of National Defense-level science-technology programs and projects; promptly build database of the military science sector, and strengthen cooperation on military science-technology in and outside the military, as well as promote technology transfer.

* The focus of the military logistics sector in the last six months of the year is ensuring logistics services for training, combat readiness of units, celebrations of the founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the Whole-people Defense Festive Day.

* The General Department of Technical Services asked agencies and units to provide enough equipment for missions in a timely manner, boost fire prevention and management of personnel, staffed weapons, and equipment.

* From now till the end of this year, the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of the Vietnam Border Guard Command will pro-actively suggest the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to issue policies and solutions to enhance international integration, defense diplomacy and border relations activities to meet the mission of managing and protecting national borders.

The border guard force will also make thorough preparation for the second Vietnam-Laos border defense friendship exchange, young border officer exchanges, and political exchange between border management and protection forces of Vietnam and neighboring countries.

They will actively follow situations, enhance security and order and disease prevention at border gates, trails, and open paths.
