Reports delivered at the event revealed that in 2025, under the leadership and direction of the general department’s Party Committee and Chain-of-Command, all assigned tasks, particularly the research and production of new and modern weapons and technical equipment, were comprehensively and effectively accomplished.

The general department effectively advised the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on defense industry development while implementing key projects, including military vehicle manufacturing and shipbuilding for maritime sovereignty protection. It also streamlined institutional frameworks and introduced breakthrough policies. Regarding science and technology, the department executed nearly 200 projects, over 80 percent of which resulted in defense industry weaponry and equipment.

The defense industry achieved significant milestones in 2025, with revenue reaching VND 46 trillion (up 13.3% year-on-year) and average monthly incomes hitting VND 20.5 million. The general department successfully marked its 80th anniversary and received the "Hero of the People’s Armed Forces" title, reflecting the strong political commitment of its personnel.

At the meeting, GDP Chief Nguyen Trong Nghia defined the defense industry sector as a highlight of the 40-year "Doi Moi" (renewal) period. He noted that the industry has transitioned from heavy import reliance to mastering the research, design, and production of advanced weaponry, significantly bolstering defense and Vietnam's international standing.

General Nghia emphasized that modernizing a revolutionary, elite military places immense demands on the defense industry. He stated that the sector must lead in innovation and technology to develop advanced weaponry suited for modern warfare, ultimately enhancing combat readiness.

He urged the GDDI to implement Party resolutions on defense, master key technologies, and cultivate high-quality human resources, including leading experts and engineers. Furthermore, he stressed maintaining strict military secrecy and security in production and international cooperation.

Additionally, the General called for a disciplined, exemplary Party organization. He noted that cadres and leaders must model political steadfastness and ethics while upholding the prestigious traditions of the military and the defense industry.
