The Ministry of National Defense (MND) held a meeting to review technical work of the whole military in the first six months under the chair of Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Huy Vinh.

Gen. Vinh hailed agencies and units for achievements gained over the first half of this year and asked them to enhance digital transformation, ensure good conditions of weapons and equipment for training, combat readiness missions, exercises and defense competitions. He also requested them to continue doing research, making proposals to improve the capability of establishments in repairing strategic weapons and equipment, strictly manage depots and ammunition.

* At the Air Defense - Air Force Service’s politico-military conference 2024, Gen. Vinh urged the service’s Party Committee and Command to embrace and seriously implement higher levels’ directives, resolutions, and conclusions on combat readiness, sky management, flight management; make accurate forecasts of situations in the air and at sea and suggestions on using forces.

The Service will improve the quality of training, promote night training, master repairing and production technologies of specialized weapons and equipment, and strengthen digital transformation and administrative reform.

* Regarding financial work in the second half, Sr. Lt. Gen. Vu Hai San, Deputy Defense Minister, chair of the meeting reviewing the work in the year 2023 and the first six months of 2024, asked agencies and units to ensure budget for urgent missions, especially activities in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, 35 years of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day, the International Defense Expo 2024, and other exercises and festivals.

* Lt. Gen. Tran Duy Giang, Director of the General Department of Logistics, requested agencies and units in the whole military to ensure logistics supplies for training and combat readiness, big events of the country and the military, disaster and disease prevention, boost farming production, and improve troops’ life.

* In the last six months, the military medical sector will adjust and complete plans on ensuring military medicine for combat readiness, disaster prevention, search and rescue operations. It will also guarantee military medicine for drills hosted by the MND, and for events of the Party, State, and military.

* The military supply sector continues ensuring quantity and quality of military supplies for combat readiness, routine and unscheduled missions. It will coordinate with relevant agencies to give suggestions on realizing the circular on new allowances for meals for troops and uniforms.

* In the remainder of the year, the Department of Barracks under the General Department of Logistics will continue giving recommendations to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on building structures, managing barracks to meet training and combat readiness requirements at each level with priority given to forces defending national sovereignty over sea, islands, and those in key areas, promote emulation movements “Building and managing regular, green, clean, and beautiful barracks,” “Military logistics sector follow Uncle Ho’s teachings,” among others.
