The handover ceremony was held in Myanmar’s Naypyidaw capital and under the direction of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s leadership.
Apart from the above support, the Vietnamese MND also decided to provide more dry rations and tents for Myanmar at the soonest time.

Before the two sides signed the minutes of handover, Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff and head of the Vietnamese rescue forces in Myanmar, said that it was the sentiments and sharing of the VPA for the country and people of Myanmar. He added that during their time in Naypyidaw, the Vietnamese delegation effectively coordinated with the host’s rescue forces to achieve the common goal of minimizing local people’s pains and losses.
“We would like to send the best wishes to you and wish you soon to overcome the quake disaster and build a developing Myanmar,” said Gen. Ty.

For his part, Maj. Gen. U Myat Thu, Head of the Fire Services Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar expressed deep thanks to the Vietnamese contingent for their sentiments, timely and valuable assistance.
He highly praised the Vietnamese rescue forces’ capability and discipline. He hoped to learn more about experiences in disaster response and search and rescue operations.

“Myanmar people and we will never forget the images of the VPA’s rescue forces over the past days,” affirmed the Myanmar general.
Earlier, upon arriving in Naypyidaw, the Vietnamese delegation handed over 40 tons of dry provisions to Myanmar. The delegation’s members also donated USD 5,000 to support quake-hit families.
