An overview of the conference

The event was part of the third Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

Over the past 12 years, the two units have maintained an effective coordination mechanism, becoming a model of cooperation between the two countries’ border protection forces. Their partnership has contributed significantly to safeguarding territorial sovereignty, maintaining security and public order in border areas, and further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The two units have regularly exchanged information and organized bilateral meetings, while closely coordinating in monitoring the border situation and promptly addressing incidents arising along the shared border.

Since 2014, they have conducted 35 joint patrols. They have also successfully advised on and coordinated the organization of a provincial-level joint patrol, contributing to the effective management and firm protection of the border and national border marker system.

The two units have jointly fought against drug-related crimes, smuggling, human trafficking, illegal entry and exit, and other violations of the law.

Notably, they have regularly carried out border diplomacy activities, including cultural, artistic and sports exchanges, mutual visits and congratulations on major national holidays and traditional anniversaries of the two countries and their armed forces. Specifically, the Border Post of Thanh Thuy International Border Gate has organized 25 delegations to visit and extend greetings to Border Company 252. The post also mobilized resources to provide medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic and has sponsored a disadvantaged student in Xop Toong village.
