Participants and children in Abyei |
Amidst the vibrant atmosphere, the sight of Vietnamese blue berets walking alongside international colleagues and local residents to spread the message of peace left a positive impression.
The peacekeepers’ steps alongside representatives of local authorities and communities symbolized more than physical exercise. They also represented the bonds, mutual understanding and shared commitment among people from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
For Viet Nam’s Engineering Company Rotation 5, participating in the peace walkathon provided an opportunity for its officers and personnel to strengthen exchanges and friendship with international peacekeeping forces. It also helped promote the image of Viet Nam People’s Army personnel as capable, responsible, friendly and approachable members of the host community.
