First rehearsal for Viet Nam - Laos - Cambodia joint civil defense exercise held

Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang attended and directed the rehearsal.

The exercise is scheduled to take place in October, with the participation of the defense ministers of all three countries.

During the rehearsal, the defense leader commended the relevant agencies and units, particularly the participating forces, for their efforts in preparing for the exercise. He emphasized its importance in strengthening traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation among the armed forces and peoples of Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia, helping maintain political security and promote regional peace, stability, cooperation and development. The exercise will also enhance command capabilities and coordination among the three countries' armed forces in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the region and worldwide.

He noted that the three armed forces had demonstrated solidarity, discipline and responsibility, overcome difficulties, and closely coordinated their training to ensure that the rehearsal was carried out seriously and in accordance with its objectives and requirements.

With the exercise approaching, he called for a thorough review of exercise documents to ensure they reflect actual conditions and meet established requirements. He also urged the participating forces to intensify training, maintain close coordination in accordance with the approved scenario, and ensure absolute safety. Particular attention should be paid to logistics, technical support, food safety and disease prevention.
