Earlier, on August 8, after a 13-hour journey from Russia’s Training Center 470, transiting in Syria, the Vietnamese service dog handler team arrived in Algeria to compete at the “True Friend” event of the games. All handlers and service dogs are in good health conditions.

According to the team, during the trip, the Vietnamese team and their peers from Russia, Uzbekistan, and Belarus were supported by the host country and regions where they traveled through. Landing at the airport in Algeria, teams received warm welcome from the host and promptly moved to a military hotel for COVID-19 sample collection and a three-day quarantine period. A new feature in this year’s “True Friend” event is the participation of two female teams from Russia and Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, several Vietnamese contingents have familiarized themselves with training grounds in Russia.

On August 9, at Alabino training ground in the outskirts of Moscow, the Vietnamese Meridian team to take part in the “Meridian” event of the games was informed about the COVID-19 prevention and control regulations and preliminary introduction of the event’s contents. The Vietnamese topographers also visited an exhibition area at the training ground and the place where the event’s stages “Weapons practice” and “Topographic quadrathlon” will take place.

At Seltsy training ground in Ryazan province, which is nearly 300km from Moscow, Vietnamese shooters were welcomed with the traditional ceremony of "Khleb da sol" (bread and salt) of the host country, Russia. On August 9, having familiarized themselves with the training ground, they started practicing contents of the “Tactical Shooter” event of the Army Games 2021. They easily hit targets with small infantry shovels and knives and practiced shooting. This is the first time Vietnam has sent its troops to compete at the “Tactical Shooter” event. As scheduled, the Vietnamese shooters will compete with their peers from 17 countries and territories worldwide.
