At the event, Director of the Academy of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Tran Viet Khoa said that the 6th refresher course was successfully wrapped up after a month thanks to the care of the Central Military Commission, leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, ambassadors of participating countries; the support of various agencies, units, and localities; the dedication and responsibility of the academy’s officials, staff, and troops.

During the course, international participants studied various topics, including the history of Vietnam's national building and defense; military culture; the people’s warfare and whole-people national defense strategy; Vietnam’s political system, foreign policy, defense policy, and national defense capabilities. They also explored the nature, traditions, and organizational structure of the Vietnam People’s Army, as well as Vietnam’s perspectives on ethnicity, religion, democracy, and human rights, maritime issues, regional and global security, and Vietnam’s stance on resolving regional and international challenges.

As part of the course, students had field trips to various cultural and historical sites, including the Temple of Literature, President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Independence Palace, Cu Chi Tunnels, the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign Museum, and such provinces as Dien Bien and Quang Tri. They also visited the Vietnam Department for Peacekeeping Operations, Commando Brigade 429, the Armored Officer Candidate School, and the Vietnam Defense Expo 2024. These activities provided students with deeper insights into Vietnam’s culture, traditions, people, and military art, especially the country’s defense policy of "peace and self-defense."

General Khoa expressed his hope that the foreign officers would be "ambassadors of peace," actively contributing to the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between their countries’ people and militaries and Vietnam’s. This, he said, would further consolidate peace and stability in the region and worldwide.

The success of the course will continue to further actualize Vietnam’s defense diplomacy policy and strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries. It also highlights the close relationship between the Vietnam People’s Army and its international counterparts. This achievement serves as a source of motivation for the staff, lecturers, students, and personnel of the Academy of National Defense to continue upholding the heroic traditions of the academy and fulfilling their assigned missions with excellence.
