The event attracted the participation of 60 students from five primary and secondary schools in Hai Lang district.
During the contest, participants showed their fundamental knowledge about Vietnam’s sea and islands, the Vietnam People’s Army, the Vietnamese coast guard force, the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing prevention, and information about the history, culture, and geography of the locality.
At the end of the contest, the organizing panel presented one first, one second, one third, and one consolation prizes to outstanding students. The organizers also awarded ten prizes to outstanding contestants of a video making competition on national sea, islands, and coast guards.
Participating students said that the contest helped them understand about national sea and islands, thus encouraging them to protect the sacred sovereignty of national sea and islands.
On this occasion, the organizing panel also donated five air-cooling fans to the participating schools, 100 scholarships, worth VND 1 million each, and 25 bicycles to needy students who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies.

Held in different localities, the “I love national sea and islands” contest has contributed to strengthening teachers, students and people’s love for the national sea and islands; enriching their knowledge about the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies, legal documents about sea and islands, and the history and traditions of Quang Tri and the Vietnamese coast guard force; fostering the relationship between coast guard troops and teachers, students, local people.
