PANO - Military and engineering troops from Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian militaries joined hands in the ongoing joint search and rescue (SAR) exercise on November 22 in Kampong Chhang province, Cambodia.
The mock-up situation was that a building in the border area collapsed due to disaster, causing 30 people being struck in. The SAR Command of three countries was promptly established, directing SAR activities. Hundreds of engineers, medical staff, and modern equipment were mobilized. Engineering troops rescued the victims. Medical personnel gave them first aid and classified them. For heavily-injured ones, they were flown to a level-3 field hospital.
During the exercise, forces coordinated smoothly and actively and supported each other. The exercise was a chance for the engineering and medical forces of the three countries to exchange expertise and experience, contributing to improving health care quality for troops and people and international activities in terms of humanitarian assistance, SAR, and disaster relief in the future.
The joint SAR exercise among Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian militaries, which opened on November 18, will last until November 25.
