On behalf of the Vietnamese side, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ha Ngoc, Director of the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 5, briefed the Japanese delegates on the task implementation of the unit in Bentiu - Unity Sub-area over the past time. Accordingly, they are in charge of providing free health check-ups and medicines to the U.N. staffers and local people, conducting complex surgeries, and implementing air medevac to save seriously-ill patients.

The hospital has also applied new techniques in treatment in line with reality, ensured pandemic prevention and control, and rolled out mobilization work and offered medicines and medical supplies to hospitals and residents in the host country.

Therefore, the Vietnamese hospital’s rotations have been highly appreciated by the U.N. mission’s leaders, as well as local authorities and people for their wholeheartedness and high responsibility during task performance.

Addressing the event, Major Keiko Norose, Chief of the Japanese peacekeeping force at the U.N. Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) expressed his delight at the fruitful outcomes of the bilateral cooperation in the field of U.N. peacekeeping operations over the past time. Especially, he highly praised the two sides’ solidarity and sharing in this work.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the working group from the Vietnamese Ministries of National Defense and Public Security at the UNMISS, Major Pham Dang Binh shared his experience while conducting tasks as a military observer, and underlined that the exchange activity was a valuable opportunity for the two sides to learn from each other, share experience and improve understanding of the challenges and opportunities the United Nations peacekeeping forces of the two countries are facing in their noble mission.
