Two foreign naval ships visit Vietnam
PANO – The Fuyuzuki, an Akizuki-class destroyer of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), headed by Captain Habuchi Hiroyuri, Commander of the JMSDF Training Submarine Division One carrying 240 officers and crew-members on board, anchored at Cam Ranh International Port in Khanh Hoa province on April 12, starting a friendly visit to Vietnam.

The visit took place at the time when Vietnam and Japan are consolidating and expanding their bilateral relationship and defense cooperation.
During the four-day visit, the Japanese delegation will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and the Naval Region 4 Command and visit naval ships of Vietnam.
The delegation will also have a friendly volleyball match with troops from the Naval Region 4 Command.
* The same day, the HMNZS TE KAHA (F77) of the Royal New Zealand Navy, started a four-day friendly visit to Da Nang.
HMNZS TE KAHA features a length of 118m, an overall beam of 14.8m, a hull draft of 6.2m and a displacement of 3,600 tons.

A welcome ceremony for the visiting crew was held at Tien Sa Port with the participation of representatives from the Naval Region 3 Command; the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense; the Military Region 5 Command’s Office; the municipal Border Guard Command and Military Command and the Department of External Affairs of Da Nang city; the Defense Attache of New Zealand to Singapore and Vietnam; New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam; and Communications Advisor of the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam.
During the visit, the vessel’s leaders will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the municipal People’s Committee, of Military Region 5 and Naval Region 3 Commands. The New Zealand sailors will play a volleyball match with their peers from the Naval Region 3 Command.
The visit has demonstrated close bilateral defense ties between New Zealand and Vietnam as it has followed the official Vietnam visit of Major General Peter Kelly, Chief of the New Zealand Army last week.
