PANO - A three-ship detachment of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) visited Cam Ranh International Port of Vietnam on October 22, on their way back home from a mission in the Gulf of Aden.

The detachment, including three warships of Xiang Tan, Zhou Shan and Chao Hu with 749 officers and sailors on board, was led by Colonel Wang Hong Li, Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the Donghai Fleet.

The event is part of the annual defense delegation exchange program agreed by the two defense ministries of Vietnam and China.

During the four-day visit, Chinese naval troops scheduled to pay courtesy visits to leaders of Khanh Hoa province and the Vietnam Naval Command, tour the Naval Academy, present gifts to students at Cam Thanh Nam Primary School, and played sports with troops of the Vietnam's Naval Region 4.

Cam Ranh International Port was inaugurated on March 8, 2016, serving national defense, economic development, international cooperation and maritime logistic services.

Since the completion of the project, the port has received a number of warships from foreign countries such as Russia, India, the United States, and Japan, and now China.
