Gen. Tan and the Vietnamese delegation participated in an official banquet of the organizer of the exhibition under the chair of Minister of the Armed Forces of France Sébastien Lecornu.

Gen. Tan received Major General Stéphane Richou, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Foreign Relations of the French Army; met with Lt. Gen. Eric Peltier, Head of the Department of International Cooperation under the Staff of the Armies; and Brigadier General Caroline Salahun, Director in Asia-Pacific of the Procurement Agency under the Ministry of Armed Forces of France.

During these meetings, Vietnamese and French officials talked about the bilateral defense ties over the past time. They stressed that the ties have received due attention from the two sides’ leaders and reaped numerous outcomes. In the time ahead, the two sides would strengthen the relations in a practical, effective manner with a focus on training, military medicine, U.N. peacekeeping, historical memories, and defense industry.

Gen. Tan thanked the Ministry of Armed Forces of France, the organizer of the exhibition, for the solemn reception. He suggested the two sides’ agencies continue coordination to effectively implement contents defined during the French Minister’s Vietnam visit and attendance in the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (1954-2024). He asked the French Ministry’s affiliated agencies to support and create conditions for French defense enterprises to register and take part in the second Vietnam International Defense Expo, slated for December this year on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day.

Representatives from the French Ministry’s agencies emphasized that the Vietnamese MND delegation’s visit to France after its minister’s Vietnam visit in May 2024 would contribute to promoting the cooperative ties in terms of defense in general and defense industry in particular, including the joint organization of the Vietnam-France defense industry forum and sending of representatives and defense enterprises of France to the Defense Expo 2024.

Within the framework of the exhibition in France, the Vietnamese delegation visited and had a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in France and toured some booths in the exhibition.
