At the meeting, a representative of the host introduced to the guest the structure, organization, functions and duties of the military medical sector of Vietnam.
After that the two sides discussed activities related to the cooperation between the two militaries' medical sectors, especially in scientific study, officer training, treatment and care for troops, sharing of experience in preventive medicine, treatment of infectious diseases and new ones.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Giang, Deputy Director of the Department of Military Medicine, affirmed that the French delegation’s visit demonstrated the solidarity, fine friendship, and cooperation between the two countries in general and the two militaries in particular.
Colonel Giang added that the Vietnamese military medical sector has always attached importance to and wished to boost cooperation with the French counterpart. He highlighted the good outcomes in personnel training, and malaria prevention and control. However, cooperation activities have not yet tapped the two sides’ potential. Therefore, Colonel Giang hoped that the two sides would strengthen their cooperation with more practical and suitable programs.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Nathalie Koulmann expressed his impressions on the scale of the Vietnamese military medical sector and the maintenance of specialized institutes, such as naval medical and air force medical ones.
The French general also briefed the host on the scale and operations of the French military medical sector, including military hospitals. He also suggested cooperation potential and prospects.
After visits to Central Military Hospital 108 and Military Hospital 103, Gen. Koulmann wished that his troops would take internship at the two hospitals in the coming time.

Both sides signing cooperation agreement in military medicine |
At the meeting, representatives of the two military medical sectors signed a framework technical agreement on military medical cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the French Ministry of Armed Forces.
The signing of this agreement was seen as a new development in the ties and opened up more cooperation opportunities between the two militaries' medical sectors.
