The delegation also encouraged liaison officers from the Viet Nam People’s Army working at the two centers.
As a regional maritime security information-sharing center of the Singapore Navy, the IFC serves as a hub connecting maritime forces and partners, from operations centers and relevant authorities to shipping companies and other organizations, to exchange data and share information in response to maritime threats and enhance maritime domain awareness.
During the working session, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang and the IFC leadership discussed the center’s organizational structure, functions and tasks, while also discussing the possibility of strengthening maritime information exchange and sharing with Viet Nam in the coming time. The IFC’s operations show that, amid an increasingly complex and transnational maritime environment, timely information and the ability of stakeholders to coordinate are of great importance. For Viet Nam, the participation of liaison officers at the center also provides a direct means of gaining experience, strengthening connectivity and gradually expanding coordination and information-sharing capabilities to help ensure security and safety at sea. To date, Viet Nam has sent 29 officers to work at the IFC. The VPA officers have all been highly commended for their competent performance.
The general also acknowledged the performance of the three Vietnamese liaison officers at the IFC and encouraged them to continue upholding their sense of responsibility, improving their professional expertise and successfully fulfilling their assigned tasks.

* ACICE was established in June 2021 pursuant to the agreement reached at the 15th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM-15). The center serves as a venue for sharing information, researching and analyzing cyber threats, threats in the information domain, and other threats related to the defense sector. ACICE also provides a platform for defense officials, experts and representatives of businesses in ASEAN to meet, exchange views and strengthen cooperation in responding to cyber and information threats.
Highlighting ACICE’s role, Sr. Lt. Gen. Thang stressed the importance of strengthening coordination among countries in addressing increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges. He noted that information sharing and raising awareness of the risks and consequences of threats provide a basis for building trust, enhancing response capabilities and expanding international cooperation in this field.
The Vietnamese deputy defense leader said that Viet Nam attaches importance to promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation in addressing challenges in cyberspace. The Vietnamese MND encourages the center and its partners to promote cooperation, while proposing that the center study the possibility of receiving Vietnamese cybersecurity officers for training and study, thereby contributing to promoting exchanges and cooperation and supporting capacity building.
