Maj. Gen. Pham Van Ty and the delegation inquire after and encourage Capt. Myat’s mother-in-law. |
Learning about his situation, on the morning of April 4, Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Department of Search and Rescue under the General Staff, decided to present Capt. Myat’s family a tent and some relief items, including instant noodles, water, and canned meat, to help alleviate their difficulties.
When the Vietnamese troops arrived, Myat’s wife and mother-in-law were cooking lunch on a wood stove. The family was living in a makeshift shelter, with just two small beds under a tree for Myat, his wife, his mother-in-law, and his younger brother.

Receiving the gifts from the Vietnamese delegation, especially when hearing General Ty’s words, Myat’s family was deeply moved. The head of the rescue forces of the Vietnam People’s Army said that those gifts came from the Vietnamese officers’ sincere care and hoped that those practical gifts would help Myat’s family overcome difficulties and the young officer focus on his work with peace of mind.
“I want to express my sincere thanks to the entire delegation. Every night, Myat talks to me about all of you. He says that the Vietnamese team is competent. They come here with the necessary rescue equipment to help us,” Myat’s wife said.

From now on, whenever Myat returns home, he will see Vietnam's national flag on the temporary shelter provided by the Vietnamese delegation. He will undoubtedly feel the heart of those who traveled such a long way to offer their assistance to his fellow countrymen.
