This is the eighth edition of the course opened by the Vietnamese institute since 2019.

In his opening speech, Major General Nguyen Hoang Nhien, Director of the Vietnam Military History Institute, underlined the importance of the course, contributing to improving the efficiency of managing and researching military history and reviewing the war.

According to General Nhien, among 25 Lao cadres, the freshly-employed ones will be equipped with basic knowledge of military history research methodology while the veteran ones will be provided with experience in military history research, and war summarization.

General Nhien believed that after the course with support from the Vietnamese experienced instructors, the Lao trainees’ professional competence will be improved, contributing to their future work and meeting requirements of the Laos People’s Army’s military history sector.

The Vietnamese senior official hoped that during the course, the Lao cadres will promote responsibility, actively study to reap the highest results, practically celebrating the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022 and the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and 45 years of the Vietnam-Laos signing of Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2022).
