The ninth Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange is slated for April 16 and 17 in Vietnam’s Lang Son province and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

At the meeting, General Chien directed agencies to focus on reviewing their assigned tasks, clearly identifying any difficulties or obstacles, and proposing solutions to ensure the best preparation for the exchange.

The deputy defense minister said that the exchange should strengthen cooperation activities, aiming to shift from exchanges to substantive cooperation between the two sides.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense Major General Bui Trong Hieu, the department is actively working with the Chinese side to finalize the details of the exchange.

As planned, the main activities within the exchange in China include the welcome and farewell ceremonies for the Vietnamese delegation at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate; saluting and painting the sovereignty marker; visiting schools and military units of China. The activities in Vietnam include the welcome and farewell ceremonies for the Chinese delegation at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate; saluting and painting the sovereignty marker 1116; planting friendship trees; visiting Dong Dang Primary School and the Military Command of Van Lang district under the Lang Son provincial Military Command; touring the Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park. Both sides will hold talks and are expected to sign some cooperative documents as part of the exchange.

Addressing the meeting, General Chien directed the agencies and units to pro-actively prepare and adjust some contents to be in line with the situation, continue coordinating closely with the Chinese side to prepare and organize the exchange, and continue the preparation as directed by the Ministry of National Defense.

Acknowledging the efforts of the agencies and units in preparing for the event, the defense leader asked them to soon complete the detailed script for the exchange. He highlighted that the joint patrols and drills in the Gulf of Tonkin between the two navies would be a highlight of this exchange, requiring thorough preparations in terms of scripts and training.
