Amidst the rubble, the relief packages from Vietnam bring warm sentiment. This impromptu activity stemmed from the officers and soldiers’ deep sympathy after witnessing the severe shortages faced by the local residents.
Sacrificing their nighttime rest after exhausting days at the site, the contingent members sorted and packed the gifts. The items were carefully selected to prioritize emergency needs, including facemasks, toilet paper, dry provisions, canned meat, and instant noodles. During tough time, these essential goods became invaluable.
The relief effort was moving due to its sincerity, blurring the line between Vietnamese rescuers and local recipients. Amidst the harsh weather conditions and dust, tight handshakes helped ease the pain.

Moved by the Vietnamese contingent’s kindness, Norkis Arsola, a local resident, affirmed that the Venezuelan people are resilient and will overcome the tough time. She also expressed deep gratitude, considering the Vietnamese contingent’s presence as a big spiritual encouragement, especially while the rescue forces were still dedicating all their physical and mental strength at the scene.
While the gifts provide immediate relief, they have also sown seeds of hope, empowering the locals in the disaster zone to overcome and rebuild their lives. The echoing chants of “Viva Venezuela, viva Vietnam!” amidst the rubble turned the sorrow into a testament of international solidarity.
