The Vietnamese side was led by Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa, Chief of Operations of the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command, while the Chinese side was headed by Yu Chengwei, Deputy Head of the Jinshuihe Border Inspection Station.

This time, the Chinese side chaired the patrol. Both sides established a joint patrol command and formed three land patrol teams each. In addition, two liaison groups, consisting of four members, two from each side, were deployed to conduct joint patrols from Border Markers No.29 to No.71.

At 8:00 a.m. (Hanoi time), the chief commanders of the joint patrol teams from both sides met at the demarcation line on the Vietnam-China friendship bridge, at Ma Lu Thang - Jinshuihe border gate. They reached a consensus on the joint patrol plan and exchanged information regarding recent border management and protection activities.

The joint patrol was conducted through a combination of motorized and on-foot patrols in two time frames, lasting a total of seven hours. During the patrol, the two sides mobilized three task teams with 48 personnel, using six vehicles, held 12 on-site meetings, distributed 300 leaflets to about 300 border people, and patrolled a total distance of 150 kilometers.

Concluding the patrol, both sides held a meeting to review the results of the joint patrol, agreeing that the joint patrol was effective, meeting the set targets and requirements. They also reached consensus on further cooperation, including maintaining regular information sharing to promptly handle border-related issues; enhancing patrols and inspections to prevent illegal border crossings, human trafficking, smuggling, ensuring security and order in the border areas, among others, contributing to peace and stability in the border region.
