Viet Nam’s 81st National Day celebrated in Abyei
PANO - On September 2 (local time) at Highway base, Viet Nam's Engineering Company Rotation 4 at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), held a ceremony to mark the 81st National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945 - 2026).
The event was attended by Brigadier General Adebowale Oladimeji Ajagbe, UNISFA Deputy Force Commander, together with representatives of the mission’s leadership, authorities of the Abyei Special Administrative Region, commanders of functional agencies, peacekeeping contingents from various countries, and local people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Trinh Van Cuong, Head of Viet Nam's Engineering Company Rotation 4, said celebrating the National Day in an international mission area gave the unit’s officers and staff an opportunity to look back on the nation’s heroic tradition and promote their national pride, thereby heightening their sense of responsibility in international peacekeeping missions. Meanwhile, the event served as a cultural diplomacy bridge, helping further promote the image of a friendly and peace-loving Viet Nam and its people among international friends.

A highlight of the celebration was an art performance prepared by officers and staff of Viet Nam's Engineering Company Rotation 4, together with a book exhibition featuring works and materials about President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

The unit also introduced farming products grown at its base, showcasing the Vietnamese peacekeeping officers’ determination to overcome difficulties, as well as their creativity and adaptability in challenging conditions.

After the ceremony, Brigadier General Adebowale Oladimeji Ajagbe said he was deeply impressed by the stories of Viet Nam’s heroic history and by the documents on President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

The UNISFA Deputy Force Commander was also surprised at the fresh agricultural products cultivated by Vietnamese personnel despite Abyei’s harsh conditions, describing them as a clear reflection of self-reliance.
