Indian naval ship visits Ho Chi Minh City
PANO - The Indian Navy’s ship INS Darshak, headed by Captain Praveen Thomas, docked at Saigon Port in Ho Chi Minh City on May 29, beginning a three-day friendship visit to the city (from May 29 to May 31).
Welcoming the ship and the Indian delegation were representatives from the Naval Region 2 Command, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the Department of Foreign Relations (Ministry of National Defense), Military Region 7, and other relevant agencies.
Speaking at a press conference onboard, Captain Praveen Thomas stated that the visit of INS Darshak marks an important milestone in the bilateral cooperation between India and Vietnam. It further strengthens Vietnam–India relations within the Indo-Pacific region, contributing to maritime security and safety, sustainable marine resource management, and promoting strategic regional integration.
Within the framework of the visit, the ship’s officers and crew will lay flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his statue; pay courtesy calls on leaders of the municipal People’s Committee, Military Region 7 Command, and Naval Region 2 Command; and host local delegations on guided tours of INS Darshak. They will also visit cultural and historical sites in the city and participate in friendly sports exchanges with the Vietnam People’s Navy.
INS Darshak is equipped with advanced systems, including digital data processing and survey technologies, modern navigation tools, sonar, and water density measurement devices.
